Can I Compost Pineapple?

pineappleYes, you can compost pineapples.

Pineapple flesh will rot down quickly due to its high moisture content but the skin, cores and tops/crowns will take considerably longer because they’re a lot dryer, tougher and more water resistant. Chopping them up into smaller pieces will help speed up the composting process.

If you have plenty of time to spare, you can regrow a pineapple from a leftover pineapple top – they will take a while (2.5-3 years for your fruit) and will need to be inside/in a heated greenhouse in the UK but it’s a fun, long term little project.
