I’m a wood turner and I’d love to compost woodshavings, but composting wood is a wide subject. Can you compost Laburnam, Iroko or Walnut?
Would the compost present an issue when put round vegetables?

I’m told Walnut contains a compound called Juglone which is extremely toxic. A friend is an Arboriculturist, has worked in the industry for 20 years and now lectures on it at a college, he ALWAYS makes me dispose of walnut shavings. I never use them in the garden or compost, if you read up on neutralizing juglone it has been known to take many years.

Mdf and the like are almost always bonded simply with urea formaldehyde, which is actually also a fertilizer. The mdf i use is 90% cellulose fiber, 7-9% resin, and 1% paraffin wax (petrol product, but as benign as they get). There are tons ofreasons to avoid mdf, but i dontthink composting shouldbe on that list.
