Can I Compost Couch Grass?

(From the Garden waste category | No comments yet - start the conversation)

couch-grassNo, couch grass should not be composted.

Couch grass (Elymus repens) is one of those weeds that is unlikely to be killed by the composting process: it will keep growing in the compost heap. Its creeping rhizomes might cause both a tangle in your heap/bin and spread the annoying plant around your garden when you spread the compost.

Best to avoid.
